Australia's blue ant is not an ant. It is a wasp.

The blue ant, Diamma bicolor, is a flower wasp. The wingless females are bright metallic blue or green and can be mistaken for large ants, says the Australian Museum. Wikipedia describes it as a large, solitary, parasitic wasp.
